Since 2022, Dr. Engelbrecht has advised PETA Science Consortium International e.V. on regulatory toxicology, focusing on the EU’s REACH regulation, plant protection, and biocidal products regulations, among others. She actively represents the Consortium in key EU-level stakeholder meetings, including with the European Food Safety Authority and the European Chemicals Agency. Additionally, Dr. Engelbrecht contributes as a nominated expert in several OECD expert groups, including those on endocrine disruption, omics, and emerging science in chemicals assessment.

Dr. Engelbrecht earned her PhD in Biology and Biotechnology with summa cum laude honours from Ruhr-University Bochum in 2020, where her doctoral research centred on protein biochemical topics. She further advanced her expertise as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Ruhr-University Bochum, focusing on the development of artificial hydrogen-producing peptides.
