Sara Beth Watson
Sara Beth’s practice focuses on chemical regulatory, environmental and health and safety compliance counseling and litigation. She develops compliance strategies for the regulated entity that address U.S. federal regulatory programs and state programs such as California's Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act (Proposition 65) and defends enforcement actions.
As the leader of Steptoe’s Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) team Sara Beth helps clients understand the impacts of the 2016 amendments to TSCA (Frank R. Lautenberg Chemical Safety for the 21st Century Act) and its ongoing implementation. She addresses issues related to entry of new chemicals into the market, the regulation of existing chemicals, Confidential Business Information (CBI) and data sharing.
In the FIFRA arena Sara Beth helps clients to obtain and maintain registrations for both agricultural pesticides (plant protection products) and antimicrobials (biocides) and defends enforcement actions. She advises trade association and companies on data development and import issues. She also provides compliance assistance and defends enforcement actions regarding hazardous waste, contaminated property, water, and air issues.
