  22. European insights: PPWR and REACH

    • The new Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) replaces the current Packaging and Packaging Waste Directive in the EU.
    • It aims to increase the sustainability of packaging and to align with the European Green Deal and Circular Economy goals. It has been adopted on 11th Feb. 2025, but most obligations for every actor in the supply chain who places packaging on the market will start in 2026.
    • PPWR includes ambitious objectives covering the entire life (and second life) of all types of packaging.
