  1. Key Regulations in EU for Food Contact Materials (FCMs) & Food Contact Articles (FCAs) and Practical, Real-Life Examples & Case Studies of Achieving Compliance

    In this module, we will cover the challenging aspects of the harmonised and non-harmonised FCM regulations. We will provide more in-depth details by presenting practical case studies to enhance comprehension of the EU harmonised and non-harmonised regulatory requirements, while keeping an eye on the broad overview of the regulatory framework. 

    The practical scenarios presented in the case studies are designed to help you apply your newly acquired knowledge to actual situations.  

    Upon completion of this module, you will be able to use the skills you have gained to navigate the intricate landscape of FCM regulations in Europe, ensure the compliance of your products, and anticipate future regulatory changes in harmonised and non-harmonised FCM regulations. 

    By attending this training course, you will learn: 

    • the framework structure of the EU FCM regulation in a highlight; 
    • current key regulations concerning harmonised and non-harmonised FCMs in the EU, governing different types of materials (for example, plastics, paper and board, and metals); 
    • key steps on how to access and ensure compliance of a FCM/food contact substance with a recently updated regulation (for example,BPA); 
    • key steps on how to access and ensure compliance of a non-harmonised FCM (such as paper and board); 
    • analytical challenges in identifying non intentionally added substances (NIAS) that migrate into food under intended conditions of use; and 
    • how to demonstrate compliance of materials and articles intended for use in food contact applications on the EU market, and the importance of their place in the supply chain.
