Essential information on the regulation of textiles.
While textile products have long been subject to labeling requirements, such as disclosures of care instructions and the fibers present, and to chemical restrictions, geared towards protecting consumers from substances like formaldehyde and azodyes, these requirements are not always ‘harmonized’ globally and, in fact, may deviate significantly from one jurisdiction to the next.
This is especially true of emerging legislation related to circularity and sustainability of textile products, such as bans on disposal of textile products in France, the Netherlands and California, as well as on the European Union’s (EU) burgeoning Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR), which will require all textile products placed on the EU market to be durable, repairable and recyclable, made of recycled fibers and free of hazardous substances by 2030.
This course will provide attendees with key insights into the world’s most onerous requirements, strategies for proactive ‘harmonization’ of these requirements, and a look over the horizon at what’s to come in 2025 and beyond.
