Elena Perabo studied Biology from 2016 to 2019, completing her B.Sc., followed by Ecotoxicology from 2019 to 2022, completing her M.Sc., both at RWTH Aachen University. Her Bachelor's thesis focused on various in-vitro test methods for detecting endocrine effects, particularly the CALUX test. In her Master's thesis, she worked on "Evaluation and Application of Tools for Quantitative Assessment of Selected Ecosystem Services."

Since July 2024, she has been working at Hydrotox GmbH in Freiburg as a Study Director for ecotoxicological studies. In addition to this role, she supervises research projects and conducts algicide efficacy studies. Her research work currently includes two projects: "Implementation of the Sponge City: Transformation and Sustainable Model Solutions for Roofs of the Blue-Green City," and "BioSHIP - Development of a self-polishing marine coating made from biodegradable coating components.
