Francisco Tong
Francisco Tong is co-head of Rodrigo, Elías & Medrano Environment practice area. He specializes in mining, environmental, water resources law.
He participates in the development and implementation of the main infrastructure and mining projects in the country. He counsels on matters of environmental and natural resources protection, mining concessions, administrative and judicial procedures related to said matters.
He has extensive experience in managing permits, licenses and authorizations for the use and/or harnessing of natural resources. Also in analysis and structuring of operations related to mining concessions, such as transfer, assignment, option and joint venture contracts.
Francisco has counseled the World Bank on a project to improve mining regulations in the Dominican Republic, as well as in other specific matters related to the development of the mining industry in general.
He has taught Mining and Environmental Law at the major universities of the country, and has been president of the National Institute of Mining, Oil and Energy Law.
