Uwe Lahl, chemist, Prof. Dr. habil., was Head of Department for the environment and health of the city of Bielefeld (1986-1991), State Councillor (deputy minister) and Permanent Representative of the Senator for Environment and Urban Development of the State of Bremen (1992-1994), Ministerial Director and Head of the Department IG – Environment and Health, Immission Control, Plant Safety and Transport, Chemistry – at the Federal Environmental Ministry (2001-2009), Head of Office and Permanent Representative of the Minister of Transport of Baden-Württemberg and subsequently of the Minister of Social Affairs, Health and Integration (2014-2022). Besides, he was a professor at the Technical University of Darmstadt (2008-2022) and adjunct professor at the University of Indonesia (Jakarta) (2010-2017). In between, he worked for BZL GmbH on several occasions, most recently since July 2022 as an expert in chemical policy and circular economy.
