Highlights from 'Essential Uses' of PFASs in the EU

Our 'Essential Uses' of PFASs in the EU virtual conference, which took place on 3 December, provided delegates with insights into the developing criteria for 'essential uses' of PFASs.

The conference welcomed experts from Mayer Brown, the Dutch Government, the Norwegian Institute for Air Research, 3M, Cefic and more, who discussed the following topics:

  • proposed measures on PFASs and the proposals for a restriction on the substances;
  • industry and academic perspectives on the concept of essential uses;
  • case studies exploring current uses of PFASs in different industry sectors; and
  • how to develop effective criteria for ‘essential uses’ of PFASs.
