Key changes for biocidal active substances and products from 1 January 2021

The UK left the European Union on 31 January and is currently in the final months of a transition period during which regulators and businesses have continued to operate under the EU’s Biocidal Products Regulation (BPR).

However, from 1 January 2021 the UK will be operating under its own version of the BPR. The head of operational policy at the HSE – the body overseeing the UK version of the biocidal products Regulation (BPR) – will explain which rules and processes will remain the same and which will change.

Companies making biocidal products available on the market or seeking to approve active substances or authorise biocidal products, will need to be aware of these changes and may need to take action to ensure they can continue to trade in the country, among them the fact that the new biocides regime will apply to Great Britain – England, Scotland and Wales – but separate guidance will be available for Northern Ireland-based businesses. This webinar will spell out the new requirements that your business must know about and act on.

There will also be a short industry presentation looking at some of the questions and concerns that industry has about the new UK BPR system. While still coping with the upheaval of the coronavirus pandemic, suppliers of biocidal products and active substances now have to plan and respond quickly to the new regulatory requirements for biocides manufactured or sold in the UK.
