Senior Manager, Sustainability, Walmart & Sam’s Club

As Walmart Inc.’s Senior Manager of Sustainability Strategic Initiatives, Roberto Bertin is responsible for leading sustainability efforts across the company’s Consumables, Hardlines, Electronics, Toys and Seasonal business units. Roberto works with his counterparts in the business to reduce environmental impacts and costs throughout the supply chain and drive responsible labor practices. He also leads Walmart’s Sustainable Chemistry program for the U.S supply chain within other strategic initiatives.

In addition to forming strategies for emerging environmental issues for the company, Roberto works to support company-wide efforts to monitor sustainable sourcing and advance sustainable product procurement for Walmart’s global supply chain. Externally, Roberto works with NGOs, suppliers and industry organizations to accelerate progress of Walmart’s sustainability programs.

Roberto joined Walmart 16 years ago. He started his career in Walmart Mexico and, over the course of his career, has held roles in Finance, Operations, the Walmart Mexico Foundation, International Corporate Affairs, Compliance and Sustainability. 

Born in Mexico, Roberto holds a Master’s degree in Social Responsibility and certification in Sustainability from Universidad Anahuac and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Escuela Bancaria y Comercial.
