Monika is an environmental physiologist, and received her BSc, MSc and Doctorate in plant biotechnology and genetic engineering. She has worked in applied science and technology innovation in the fields of agriculture, forestry, and coastal & marine development. Before joining UNEP, she worked in Canada and South Africa in academia, policy implementation, environmental decision support systems, environmental assessments, multi-stakeholder and private sector partnerships, SME technology transfer and capacity development. Monika currently leads UNEP's work in chemicals, waste, pollution and health, e-mobility, and waste management.
