Anthony Samson

Senior Attorney/Policy Advisor, Arnold & Porter Kaye Scholer

Anthony Samson is a Senior Attorney and Policy advisor at Arnold & Porter Kaye Scholer.  He is a registered lobbyist located in Sacramento, where he advocates for business clients before the California Legislature, the Governor's Office, and regulatory agencies.  Although he advocates on a broad range of policy issues, Anthony is best-known for his expertise in environmental, chemical and consumer product issues.

Before joining the firm, Anthony was a Policy Advocate for environmental issues at the California Chamber of Commerce, the largest business advocacy organization in the state, with more than 14,000 member companies. While at CalChamber, Anthony spearheaded and managed one of the largest business coalitions ever assembled in California, consisting of over 250 companies and organizations, to substantially improve a regulatory proposal by the Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) regarding its proposal to modify warning requirements under Proposition 65.  Through his advocacy at CalChamber and now at Arnold & Porter, Anthony is often relied upon by businesses and national and statewide trade associations on Prop. 65 issues both before the California Legislature and California regulatory agencies.

Anthony’s advocacy capabilities are coupled with a legal background. Prior to working at CalChamber, he was a land use and environmental litigator, defending a variety of land development projects from legal challenges brought on environmental, planning and zoning laws. Anthony also served as a Deputy Attorney at the California Department of Transportation and worked directly under the Deputy Chief of Staff for Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Anthony received his JD from Michigan State University College of Law, where he served as Articles Editor to the Michigan State Law Review. He received a BA in Law and Society from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
