Paulette Vander Schueren leads the Brussels’ members of the Mayer Brown Government and Global Trade Group. Her practice focuses on matters related to international trade, the World Trade Organization including dispute settlement, international trade compliance, international trade negotiations, international customs and European Union regulations.

She represents and advises clients in trade remedy cases before the EU institutions and outside the EU, including on anti-dumping, subsidies, safeguard and, in the EU, on Trade Barrier Regulation matters. She further advises private and governmental clients on international and bilateral agreements concluded by the EU.

Paulette advises and represents clients in a wide range of  customs matters before EU and EU Member State authorities as well as the World Customs Organization (the "WCO") and authorities outside the EU such as for example in the field of customs valuation, tariff classification or origin rules.

She advises daily on international provisions on export controls and economic sanctions and on the implementation of these provisions by EU Member States, both as regards ad hoc issues and the drafting of compliance documents.

Paulette has been involved in numerous international trade disputes and appeared before the European Commission as well as the European Courts or in WTO dispute settlement.

She is consistently recognized as one of the world's top trade and customs lawyers. Chambers Global for example has ranked her in the top tier as a Leading Lawyer for International Trade/WTO work for well over a decade.
