Timo Unger
An engineer for Recycling Technology by training, Timo has worked over 20 years already in the automotive industry and today for the European R&D Center of Hyundai & Kia Motor Company as Manager, Environmental Affairs since 2005. He has represented Hyundai in numerous industry working groups concerned with environmental issues, including the Steering Committee of IMDS, the International Material Data System. He also Chairs the Automotive Industry Task Force on REACH and the Working Group on Materials & Substances of ACEA, the EU vehicle manufacturers’ association. Lastly, Timo is a member of the UN Environment Programme Steering Group on CiP (Chemicals in Products).
After School and Military Service 1992, study of production- and process engineering in the study course “Recycling” at the technical college in Braunschweig / Wolfenbüttel; Since 1998, Graduated Engineer.
Since 2005, working in the European R&D Center of Hyundai & Kia Motor Company as Manager Environmental Affairs. In addition to the company representation in working groups such as the Steering Committee of the International material Data System “IMDS”, also European representative of the Korean Car Manufacturer Association KAMA on certain environmental issues.
Since September 2007, chair of the Automotive Industry Task Force on REACH and since 2013 also chairing the WG Materials & Substances of ACEA, the EU vehicle manufacturers association.
Furthermore member of the UNEP Steering Group for the CiP (Chemicals in Products) Program.
