Jenny Holmqvist
Jenny Holmqvist holds two degrees; Chemical Engineering from Chalmers Technical University, Sweden, and a MSc in Environmental Toxicology. She has also a post-degree diploma in human toxicology from IRAS, Utrecht University. She joined European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) in January 2013 after 5 years at the European Chemical Industry Council (Cefic) in Brussels. Throughout her professional career she has developed a unique knowledge from her professional career as industrial hygienist, scientific officer the Swedish competent authority, the European Commission and working for the largest EU chemical industry association. Through her positions she has come to represent different interests at many European and International organisations.
In the context of nanomaterials, she has followed the development of the regulatory aspect of nanomaterials in Europe longer than most. Since the start of the CARACAL Subgroup on Nanomaterials (CASG Nano) in 2008 where she first represented Cefic and today the views of ECHA. The thorough understanding, of not only the policy aspects, but also the scientific knowledge of nanomaterials in the EU was an important resource in her position as the Chair the Steering Group on Testing and Assessment at OECD WPMN which she held between 2014-2017. Recently, Jenny has coordinated the implementation of the European Observatory for Nanomaterials (EUON) which was launched in June 2017.
