After earning his MSc in Chemistry from Moscow University (USSR), Jan worked at the German Federal Health Office and completed his doctorate at Berlin Free University. He conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Brussels (VUB), Belgium which was followed by the position of Scientific Advisor at the International Soap and Detergent Association A.I.S.E. in Brussels.
Afterwards, Jan had been working in a large Swiss contract research organisation. Before taking on his present position at Roche, he worked is a Senior Regulatory Affairs Expert with the multinational chemical companies Ciba and BASF.
