Gunnar Sachs
Gunnar Sachs, Maître en droit (Paris), is Partner in the Düsseldorf office of the global law firm Clifford Chance and Expert Lawyer for Intellectual Property Law. He is an active member of the firm's worldwide industry groups Healthcare, Life Sciences & Chemicals as well as Consumer Goods & Retail. He is a recognized EU expert in the EU-China Project as well as in the EU-Turkey Project on the Protection of Intellectual Property Rights and member of the German Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (GRUR), of the German Association for Food Law and Food Science (BLL), of the Clifford Chance China Desk as well as of the Clifford Chance Franco-German cross-border team.
Gunnar represents national and international clients on all of their strategic and business-critical regulatory, corporate, commercial and litigious projects in the European chemicals, biocidal, drugs, medical devices, food and cosmetics sectors. He has in-depth market insights as well as long-standing legal expertise in harmonized European market regulation. Amongst others, he has advised chemical and biocidal companies in a number of precedent-setting court proceedings on mandatory data sharing both inside and outside the EU.
In addition to his activities as a lawyer, Gunnar has also worked between 2012 and 2015 as external General Counsel in the German legal departments of both a global biotechnology company and one of the leading US retailers. During his legal clerkship, he has further worked, inter alia, for the World Trade Organization in Geneva, for various French Ministries (Economics, Finance, Industry and Defense) in Paris, for the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Paris, for the German Institution of Arbitration in Bonn as well as for the State Parliament North Rhine-Westphalia in Düsseldorf.
He has published numerous articles and handbooks in his areas of expertise mentioned above. He is also a sought speaker at relevant law events all over the world.
