  5. Workshop: Managing Compliance in Complex Supply Chains

Today’s world of product stewardship is highly complex and is continually evolving. Not only are companies dealing with compiling material chemical compliance data and declarations down very complex supply chains, but are often confronted with the multiple modes of transport, storage and data management systems, each bringing in their own set of governance rules and legislation. Complying with custom laws adds a layer of complexity, as customs and regulatory laws often overlap, and sometimes impose contradictory requirements. In this plenary session complex cross-border supply chains are systematically analyzed and in an interactive way the peculiarities of the different pieces of legislation affecting compliance in these supply chains is discussed. Problems and possible solutions and in particular the value of corporate awareness for the risks and consequences of being non-compliant is presented.
