Michael Barlow
Michael is a very experienced environmental lawyer and is currently Head of the Burges Salmon’s environmental team. He advises clients on both contentious and non-contentious matters and his clients range from international corporations to regulators to government departments. He has been described by Chambers and Partners as "fantastically talented at solving complex legal problems".
Michael regularly advises clients on issues relating to the regulation of chemicals. This advice has included advising a US client on a regulatory investigation arising from the import of agricultural machinery to the UK in breach of the RoHS Directive; advising a French-based company on alleged breaches of the REACH Regulations in its flooring products, advising a US-headquartered office products company on compliance with REACH in its supply chain and advising a UK based manufacturer on the interaction of EU waste legislation with REACH. Burges Salmon is currently advising the EU Commission on REACH issues.
Michael frequently speaks on issues arising from the UK’s decision to leave the EU.
