Stephen Tomasino
Dr. Stephen Tomasino is a Senior Scientist at the EPA’s Office of Pesticide Programs (OPP) Microbiology Laboratory located at the Environmental Science Center, Fort Meade, Maryland. Dr. Tomasino has a Ph.D. in Plant Pathology from Oklahoma State University and joined the OPP Microbiology Laboratory in 1999. He is responsible for leading various programmatic initiatives associated with the registration and testing of antimicrobial products with public health claims.
Main areas emphasis includes the stewardship and development of standardized methods for assessing the performance of hospital disinfectants and sporicidal agents against a wide range of clinically-relevant microbes. These efforts involve consensus-building collaborations with stakeholders, standard-setting organizations, other federal agencies, and the international community.
