Dr Katrin Schütte is a policy officer in DG Environment, in Unit B2 Sustainable Chemicals. Her responsibilities cover several aspects of REACH, in this role she is leading the work on the definition of registration requirements for some polymers as well as the amendment of the information requirements for all REACH-substances following the Chemicals Strategy for Sustainability. In addition, she is co-responsible for the implementation of Directive 2010/63/EU on the protection of animals used for scientific purposes.

Katrin has a degree in nutrition sciences, a PhD in neurobiology and is Diplomate of the American Board of Toxicology (DABT) and an European Registered Toxicologist (ERT).

Before joining the Commission, she worked for 15 years as a toxicologist and regulatory affairs manager in the consumer products sector.
