Chemicals Management for Electronics and Electricals USA 2018 – Overview

The inaugural Chemicals Management for Electronics and Electricals USA was Chemical Watch’s first conference with a focus on the electronics and electricals sector.

Held in San Francisco, USA on 8-9 November 2018, the conference featured talks from expert speakers representing both regulatory and industry perspectives, in addition to informative panel discussions and opportunities to network with important figures in the world of chemicals management within the electronics industry.

Day one introduced key updates and developments from Europe and across the world, including:

  • The EU RoHS Directive;
  • The Medical Devices Directive within the EU;
  • Circular Economy initiatives in the EU;
  • California’s Proposition 65;
  • Updates from China, including RoHS; and,
  • Developments from Taiwan, the Middle East, and Latin America.

The second day followed with updates on regulations and standards in North America and Canada, looking at:

  • The International Electronics Industry Standards body;
  • Electronics waste initiatives in Canada;
  • Supply chain issues for manufacturers of complex components;
  • The role of NGOs in chemical management within the electronics sector; and,
  • Environmental and human health performance leadership.
