Matti Vainio
Professor of Practice in Green Transition, University of Helsinki
Matti is Professor of Practice in Green Transition at the University of Helsinki and member of the UK REACH Independent Scientific Expert Pool and Special Advisor in Fipra. In September 2023 he retired from ECHA having headed of risk management units on REACH authorisation application and restrictions processes and socio-economic analysis, including monetary values of reduced health risks. 1997-2007 he was member of a team developing the EU’s CO2 trading system and F-gas regulation. He headed the Energy and Environment Unit and lead the “Clean Air for Europe” programme. Earlier he worked in the UN, the Finnish foreign ministry and as a consultant.
