Erik van de Plassche
Chairman of the Biocidal Products Committee, European Chemicals Agency, Finland
Erik van de Plassche graduated as an ecotoxicologist at the University of Utrecht in the Netherlands in 1986. Before moving to the Commission, he worked for the Dutch Ministry of the Environment, the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) and the consultant Royal Haskoning.
In 2004 he joined the Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC) in Ispra in Italy to work on the technical and scientific preparations for the implementation of the REACH legislation. He then moved to biocides in JRC in 2007, becoming responsible for the technical implementation of the Biocidal Products Directive. In 2009 he moved to the European Chemicals Agency where he is since 2009 the Chairman of the Biocidal Products Committee.
