Sue Chiang

Food Program Director, Center for Environmental Health

Sue Chiang leads the Food Program at the Center for Environmental Health, where she and her team engage institutional purchasers from a wide range of sectors to harness their collective buying power to eliminate the use of harmful chemicals and expand the market for environmentally preferable products. A priority area of concern is on hormone disrupting chemicals in consumer products – particularly in food and food packaging. With over 30 years of experience in the environmental health field, Sue has been developing solutions to advance pollution prevention and safer alternatives as part of a non-toxic circular economy. She co-developed two new certification standards for the food service sector, “GreenScreen Certified for Single-Use Food Service Ware and Thermal Paper” and “GreenScreen Certified for Reusable Food Packaging, Food Service Ware and Cookware,” as part of a collaboration between CEH and Clean Production Action.

She has an MPH and MPP from UC Berkeley, with an emphasis on environmental health.
