Gurvinder Chopra
Gurvinder Chopra is currently working as a Vice President-Standards, Regulation & GR Functions for Electro-Federation Canada, a Not-for-profit Association of Canadian Electrical manufacturers, distributors and manufacturing agents. He is responsible for initiatives around development of Standards, Codes & Regulations, and focuses on requirements in support of innovations happening within the Electrical sector. He leads the advocacy efforts with Municipal, Provincial and Federal Governments on Codes & Regulations topics and actively pursues initiatives around clean energy, sustainability, modernization of grid, electrical vehicle systems, smart buildings and the ageing electrical infrastructure.
Gurvinder has a degree in Marine Engineering and has sailed for 10 years in early part of his career with more than a year as a Chief Engineer. Subsequently, he worked with companies like CSA Group (Canadian Standards Association), Lloyd’s Register & BSI (British Standards Institution) in their locations in India, UK, USA and Canada. He has also worked in Iraq as part of United Nations ‘Food for Oil’ program.
Gurvinder has also undertaken Advanced Diploma in Business Administration from McMaster University, Hamilton, Operations Management Certification program from Loyola University, Chicago and recently, completed a program on Sustainable Business Strategy from Harvard Business School.
