Simón Gutiérrez Alonso
Simón currently works as Scientific Officer in the Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control Bureau of the Joint Research Centre in the European Commission. Prior to the European Commission, he worked in a National Competent Authority, later in a chemical multinational company based in UK and in the European Chemicals Agency in Finland as team leader and chair of the environmental working Group of the Biocidal Products Committee. Simón has a master’s degree in environmental sciences and holds a PhD in ecotoxicology.
Simón has actively participated in the creation of guidance documents and tools to support the implementation of key regulations such as REACH, CLP, Biocidal Products Regulation and currently the Industrial emissions Directive. Additionally, he has conducted numerous scientific studies and assessments, providing technical advice and supporting the European Commission in policy development related to pollution prevention and control.
