Margo-Ann Werner
Margo-Ann Werner is a Legal Director at Pinsent Masons, specialising in environmental, mining and energy law.
Margo started her career at Fasken as a Candidate Attorney in 2013 where she was appointed as an Associate in 2015 and promoted to Senior Associate in 2018. Margo joined Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr as a Senior Associate in March 2020 and was promoted to Director in April 2021. Margo joined Pinsent Masons as a Legal Director in 2024.
Margo has extensive experience in respect of environmental, mining and energy regulatory considerations and has worked on numerous projects and matters relating to relating to energy generation and infrastructure development; extended producer responsibility and development of a circular economy and associated waste management; climate change litigation and considerations; administrative appeals and reviews; general environmental advisory in the mining; cement manufacturing; food manufacturing and pharmaceutical industries.
Margo actively advises on opportunities in the development of a circular economy; decarbonisation strategies in achieving and carbon neutrality targets; alternate clean and green fuel resources and innovation; and climate change risks and litigation in respect of energy security; and has acted for lenders, borrowers and offtakers in project financed transactions requiring the application of the Equator Principles and IFC performance standards.
