Kastalie is a Policy Officer and Economist in the Safe and Sustainable Chemicals unit at the European Commission (DG ENV), where she focuses on files such as the essential use concept, substitution, the PFAS restriction(s), and socio-economic analysis in authorisation and restriction.

Prior to this, she led initiatives for governments and international organisations, such as evaluating EU forest policy, proposing measures to minimise deforestation, and managing projects on design for sustainability and hazardous chemicals. Notable projects include the Safe Chemicals Innovation Agenda, the Chemicals Innovation Action Agenda, and work on REACH, including the revision of REACH, polymers requiring registration, the development of a mixture assessment factor and essential use concept.
