Environmental scientist Ursula Karges works at the IWW Institute for Water Research in the Water Management Department, where she is assumed responsible for the Resource Protection Unit. Her work focuses on the identification and assessment of the behaviour and effects of anthropogenic pollutants - including biocides - in the aquatic environment and the development of strategies for their management and mitigation.
In this context, she also collaborated on the content of the joint EFSA and ECHA guidance document on Guidance document on the impact of water treatment processes on residues of active substances or their metabolites in water abstracted for the production of drinking water.
