FCM developments in China
- In China, a comprehensive standardization system is established that covers everything from general safety standards, to article or material specific standards. China has been actively updating this system.
- Last year, there were 8 standards, either amended, newly created, or repealed. Besides, 5 proposals are currently being discussed, and are likely to be finalized this year.
- Amended standards including GB 4806.7 Plastic Materials and Products for Food Contact. Amendment also proposed for GB 4806.1 General Safety Standards in Food Contact Materials and Products.
- Companies must ensure that their products comply with the updated changes, and further know where the suppliers are standing to ensure product safety throughout the supply chain.
