2019 conference highlights
Chemical Watch’s REACH Substance Evaluation 2019 conference took place on 28 November in Brussels, and welcomed 65 professionals from across Europe to hear the latest advice and guidance on the REACH substance evaluation process, including the identification, process, context, issues and consequences.
The one-day event welcomed 13 speakers from leading organisations including the European Commission, Echa, the European Environmental Bureau, the International Antimony Association, the EPA and Cruelty Free International.
Key topics that were covered include:
- Echa’s identification of substances for evaluation, including grouping of substances;
- whether the right substances are being identified;
- concerns for animal testing for substance evaluations;
- ways the current substance evaluation process could be improved;
- best practices and examples of well-managed substance evaluations;
- the enforcement of substance evaluations; and,
- the future of substance evaluations.
